Current copyright/syndication practices?

Hi all.
My first post here.
I've been meaning to ask this question for a while.
Could anyone please speak to the current status of
accepted behavior or legalities regarding the
syndication or republishing of rss feeds?

I've been thinking about this regarding podcasting
particularly. Is there any standard of usage regarding
the mixing of rss feeds, as on Planet RDF, or on even
the remixing of MP3s, etc?
