Dealing with duplicate feeds. Is link unique?

Hi,

I'm experimenting with the joys of mass subscription to feeds and having 
some issues with duplicate feeds. For example, discovering 
the rss 1.0 feed for a blog from one source and the rss 2.0 feed for the 
same blog from another source and ending up with two 'twin' subscriptions 
and two identical set of items.

What's the better way to handle this? Can I trust the uniqueness of the 
<link> element enough to declare it UNIQUE in the database? Or may I find a 
singificant number of feeds that share the same <link> for the <channel> but 
are in fact different? I'm worried specifically about group blogs that may 
be incorrectly declaring a shared <link> 

Is this seen often in the wild or am I overdesiging?
