If I feel like I'm being spammed by an RSS feed, why would I continue
to subscribe?

Why filter out adverts? If they're in the feed, then the publisher
obviously wants them there. If the reader objects, then they should
not subscribe.

Just so we're clear here, paid subscription (i.e. restricted access)
is different.
rel="payment" is not that.
