I'm in complete agreement with the statement that HTML should be 
discouraged outside of item/description.  

And I agree with BillK that it's not necessary to recommend using 
numeric entities instead of lt/gt.  Making recommendations based on 
bugs in existing clients (including my own) won't pay off in the long 
term.

Side note: which version of FeedDemon was used for the character data 
tests?  Although it didn't correctly display all seven of the title 
examples (which I'll rectify), FeedDemon 2.5 didn't fail "five or more" 
of them, so I'm wondering if an older version was used?
