The recommendation to use hexadecimal references is based on the 
observation that &#x26;, &#x3C; and &#x3E; are less likely to be 
misinterpreted by aggregators than the named entities, from the tests 
we've conducted.

Although that might be a "bug workaround," I think it's a better 
solution for publishers than waiting for everyone to get on the same 
page with markup outside item-description.

I'm not sure, but I suspect we didn't try it in 2.5 yet. I need to make 
sure all of the tests are up to date with the current versions.
