I plan to move slowly, and if there ever is a side to take in the matter
of whether Harvard or the RSS Advisory Board is the true owner and
custodian of the RSS Spec, ... well, lets just say that today is not
that day and let's leave it at that for now. OK?
However, the profile is a different beast. As it represents the most
thoroughly researched effort into the area of RSS interoperability that
I am aware of, it merits citation.
To help foster discussion, I've pushed out the following draft of a
warning message:
http://feedvalidator.org/docs/warning/CharacterData.html
No code currently deployed produces this message. Once the Advisory
Board vote on this issue is complete, and if it approves of this
profile, I will begin work on test cases. Any discrepancy in how these
checks are implemented will be treated as feed validator bugs.
Questions as to whether this advice itself is correct or as to how it
could be better worded will be referred to this mailing list.
