Perhaps I'm missing it, but I don't see anything in either of Dave's 
message questioning the idea of a profile in general.  What I do see is 
him questioning two specific messages issued by the Feed Validator.

 From what I can tell, one board member is in support of these Feed 
Validator changes, one board member has provided some constructive 
criticism but has consistently stopped short of endorsement, and one 
board member has simply provided criticism.  All the rest have been 
silent on this issue.

I believe that the only fair assessment at this point is that the 
following two messages are in dispute:

   http://feedvalidator.org/docs/warning/MissingAtomSelfLink.html
   http://feedvalidator.org/docs/warning/MissingRealName.html

At this point, I would like to ask that the board call for a vote on 
whether or not to support the changes that were recently made to the 
Feed Validator in support of the RSS Profile.
