You seem to be confusing "valid" and "interoperable".

There is no doubt that your feed is valid.

Your obfuscation is at the XML level, FWIW; you didn't use any
Atom features to achieve it. Any XML document is subject to the
same sleight of hand.

And any compliant XML parser should be able to deal with that.
For better or for worse, parsing internal DTD subsets is not
optional; only external entities can freely be ignored by the
parser (and I argue that by default, in fact they should be).

IE is just barely on acceptable ground, since it outright rejects
the document instead of merely ignoring the DTD subset. It’s not
compliant, but its violation is benign.
