Asking for help

I got a problem when I tried to use tightvnc to connect my server. Nothing showed but a error which says: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-****. Connection refused. Then I delete the line "unset DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS" in the xstartup file and I connect the server again and it worked but can't open a terminal and some other software. Could anybody help me out?
