There is not enough room for the 768 display plus the window border (adds ~20-30 pixels in height) so it puts in the scroll bar. You could try scaling it to 90% or something which will make it go away. > > Terry ยป > > -----Original Message----- > From: Robert McConnell <[email protected]> > Sent: Saturday, May 11, 2019 7:24 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Unable to eliminate vertical scroll bar > > On 5/10/19 9:27 AM, Patrick Shoaf wrote: >> The horizontal scroll bar in combination with the window borders and >> the menu bar is probably creating the vertical scroll bar. >> >> 1024-768 = 256 pixels for difference in screen heights. >> >> I am not running TightVNC on any linux box so I can be certain, but >> each border is at least 1 pixel for the window, the top border with >> TightVNC Viewer and connection info with min/max/close buttons >> occupies several pixels, and the menu bar with the various icons is >> more pixels, then you have the horizontal scroll bar adding more >> pixels. 'ps' showed it was now on pty/8, but I couldn't find any way to access pty/8. Ctrl-Shift-F8 gave me a blank screen with a blinking cursor. C-S-F7 gave me my normal desktop back. There is more than enough room for the full height with all of the decorations. There should be no need for the vertical scroll bar. Apparently it is there to make room for the horizontal scroll bar, which would not be necessary if the tightvnc viewer would allow me to increase the height by that amount.
