I found this fact annoying since the tin menu was changed about a year ago. Now, on a standard 80x24 DEC-VT compatible terminal we can read: <n>=set current to n; <TAB>=next unread; /=search pattern; ^K=kill/select a=author search; c=catchup; ^N=line down; ^P=line up; K=mark read; l=list threa |=pipe; m=mail; o=print; q=quit; r=toggle all/unread; s=save; t=tag; w=post Take a look at the "l" (list thread) option. As this menu is not using the last column on the display, there is no way to see the "d" in "thread". We need to resize the screen, but this way we can post messages that will not fit on a standard screen. The menu should look: <n>=set current to n; <TAB>=next unread; /=search pattern; ^K=kill/select a=author search; c=catchup; ^N=line down; ^P=line up; K=mark read; l=list thread |=pipe; m=mail; o=print; q=quit; r=toggle all/unread; s=save; t=tag; w=post instead (please, take a look at the "l" option in the second line). The last column is not used in the options menu either. Don't know how portable will be using the last column on the screen under different VT emulations or real terminals, but at least the "h=help" string uses the last column. Threads in the newsgroups only use 78 columns right now. Perhaps these last two columns will improve reading addresses and names from people posting on the newsgroups. Cheers, Igor. ----- End forwarded message -----
