No, .newsauth is ok.  And tin prompts username as in that file, I just 
masked it for security reasons. :)

Nothing helps: leaving out -A option, renaming .newsauth, nothing. 
Answer of tin just one each time: Permission denied.  Without .newsauth 
and with -A it asks for login and password, then rejects.
