New newsgroups won't go away.

Hi,

It's not happening often, but over the last couple of weeks there has 
been new newsgroups added so I've noticed that the new groups just stay 
there with my subscribed groups marked (N). How do I make them go away, 
and is the a way to have tin not put up new groups at all?
