This is a development version, as you probably know already. There's
another list ([email protected]) that you should at least read if you
use versions from the 1.7 series.

You could provide us with some more useful information. :-)

In the subject you write tin "ends abruptly". Above you describe
this as "stops". What exactly does this mean? Is tin returning to
the shell prompt, or does it seem do nothing? Are you sure it is not
reading in overview information from the group you try to enter?

What messages are output last?

Do you have a dial-on-demand connection with short hold when reading
news? Do you use IPv6?

What newsserver is on the other end and does it probably have short
timeouts?

Could you start tin with options -D 1 and see anything useful in
/tmp/NNTP afterwards? If you can't, please send the last three or
four commands in the file and their responses from the server.
