My value for *vm.dirty_background_ratio* was 10. I couldn't find this 
parameter in */etc/sysctl.conf* or in any of the conf files in 
*/etc/sysctl.d*.

I changed it anyway with:

    *john@john-asus14:~$ sudo sysctl -w vm.dirty_background_ratio=1*

I still can't see where this variable is stored, but my sync runs 
without the popup and possibly a bit faster.

Is there any downside to changing this variable permanently?
