Did you look in the manual?  In general people have tried to keep that
accurate over the years.

See the Path section of the reference manual.

I find it strange that you are using two * characters; that doesn't make
sense in either regular expressions or glob patterns.   But read the
manual which should help a lot before worrying about that.
