Is just updating the binary to a new version? or > is there more to it? If you are upgrading from >= 2.52, then just replace the bits with the new release. I do that all the time and don't even think about it. If you are coming from 2.48, or 2.51 (before the new ocaml-version-independent representation for archive and wire), then the recommended approach has been to build new unison with the same ocaml version as the previous. Or if you can't do that, you will very likely have to regenerate archive files. https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://github.com/bcpierce00/unison/wiki/2.52-Migration-Guide__;!!IBzWLUs!S6lP6LbPULQY-CbBNfyYgIQD7huYKbqztWrtEWVE1-ru7P8kylUIzgEWM-3edR-BakfuQiQEExlueoqr5g$ Arguably that's "upgrading from < 2.52 to >= 2.52". Regardless of any of that, my recommendation is to do a sync of all of your profiles before any upgrade. I can't say that this is necessary, and if not doing it leads to a failure, that's a bug -- but that won't save you in the moment. I don't think we've had any real trouble. It's just that I try to stay away from the edges when operating. To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to [email protected].
