I should clarify.  This advice is for >= 2.52, or staying with the same
ocaml version.    If you are upgrading from < 2.52, and you change the
ocaml version, then you really should be synced first.  The reason is
that the archive files will be regenerated and thus the information
about which root created any differences and thus which way it should
sync, will be lost.
