Still not quite there....

Hi,

I'm still trying to get the FreeBSD system to act as a WAP.  My ISP has 
dedicated a sub-net to the wireless clients, so I can use it in routed rather 
than bridged mode.  

Sadly.... this hasn't been a full time endeavor.  When I start making progress, 
something else pops up.  

Anyway, I slid a Cisco card into my laptop and tried to connect to my FreeBSD 
box.  It wouldn't associate.  I had a similar lack of results with an ORiNOCO 
and D-Link card.

I have a Senao 200mw card in the FreeBSD box through a PCI/PCMCIA 
adapter.  I'm running FreeBSD 4.7 -stable.  I can have that card connect to 
another access point as a client, so I know that the card and the adapter 
work.  It's when I try to use it as an access point I run into trouble.  

The command line I used to setup the wireless card was: ifconfig wi0 inet 
64.103.205.2 netmask 0xffffffe0 ssid OtherWave2 station Wave wepkey 
0x1234567890 mediaopt hostap channel 2  

(I munged the wep key, so if there aren't enough digits or something, that's 
OK.)  

When I looked at wicontrol's output, what seemed interesting was the field, 
"Process 802.11b Frame:                  [ Off ]"
This doesn't sound good.  Is this really an issue, or a red herring?
