FWIW, I bought a Prism 2.5 (D-Link DWL-650) for a new FreeBSD 4.7-RC Access Point. I was hoping it would easily cover my small 900 sq ft house even though I wanted to place the computer in a closet. Unfortunately, due to walls, the range is about 20 feet. Even with line of sight outdoors it didn't seem to come close to the 300 foot spec. In addition, FreeBSD has panic'd three times and I'm ready for a dump if it happens again. Of course at this point I don't know if the panics are related to the wireless card. Can some recommend a specific Prism 2 PCMCIA or PCI card with attachable antenna and FreeBSD driver that I could string to a convenient location in my house? Thanks. -david. -----Original Message----- I will appreciate it very much if I can get comments on freebsd box as AP using Prism2.5 wireless card: reliability, sensitivity, stablility, etc. Freebsd box as AP provides better services? Is it stable? thx Toledo Brazil _______________________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
