I am having a problem with my Orinoco USB adapter running under
Windows XP Pro. I find that from time to time, it just hangs,
and the activity light is on solid. I used to think I had to
reboot to get it back, but I have discovered that I can disable
it and re-enable it from Windows and it will start working again
(although sometimes when it comes back, it claims to have no
signal, but other times it will report that the signal is
excellent when reconnecting, only to report "Very Low" a minute
later (although still 11mbps).

I have the latest firmware and driver installed from the Orinoco
website. I have been unsuccessful in getting the driver on the
Windows Update site to install. I am finding it happens most
often when running Kazaa, but it's rather random. I have not
tried swapping adapters with another machine because I find that
Windows will install a different adapter (even the same model)
as a new device and I'd rather not let Windows learn about yet
another wireless adapter (even though I have only had this one,
my experiences trying to get the WinXP driver to install have me
up to Wireless Adapter #3.

Is anyone else seeing this? I guess I should contact Orinoco but
I don't like their "30 days of free support per device serial
number" policy. Does anyone know if Proxim has a similar policy
(since they bought Orinoco, presumably they will have the same
policies now).

Bill
