RE: Is Low-Cost Wi-Fi Un-American?

I think the infrastructure was somewhat limited by the range.  Winstar did
OK in providing short-haul (1-3 mi.) links.  There was some "frequency
reuse" by placing units back-to-back to get a relay in place.  Generally
speaking it was from a Winstar POP to a building a short distance away.

They were marginally successful in getting service established from their
old POP at 109th & NE8th St. in Bellevue to Seattle--just beyond the fringe
of two nines of reliability, if I recall.
