-27dBm??? Are you sure?? You'd need a 47dBi antenna for that kind of signal. If you put 100mW to a 14dBi antenna, stand 1.55 miles away (2.4km) and hold a 24dBi parabolic in the other direction, you could only manage to get -50dBm. A 2 watt radio into a 14dBi antenna, standing 1.55 miles away, and holding a 24dBi parabolic in the other direction will give you -37dBm...which is way too much signal and will overpower many radios (including the orinoco). I think you got your testing mixed up. ;) Anyway, I would not suggest using 2 watts to shoot 2.4km.
