No, actually I'm dyslexic.  -72dbm.  Sorry.

All I know is what the software is telling me on the client side.  I am
using a directional antenna on the client side, but not parabolic.  The
software on the CPE is where I'm getting my numbers.

So, let me understand then.  I realize that the percentage number is just
some relative thing.  I shouldn't be getting 100% when I go from a 200mw to
a 2 watt setup.

And then you've introduced something to me that I didn't realize was a
problem.  I can overpower the radios?  I'll have to look up those terms,
because I'm not familiar with then.

I guess one problem is that I'm trying to create a single solution.  I'm
trying to cover an area that is some 20-30 miles wide - three small cities.
Bad way to do it?

BTW, where can I get the formulas that you used to determine what signal
strenghts I should get with varying antennas, wattage, and distance?

If you put 100mW to a 14dBi antenna, stand 1.55 miles away (2.4km) and hold
a 24dBi parabolic in the other direction, you could only manage to get
-50dBm.

A 2 watt radio into a 14dBi antenna, standing 1.55 miles away, and holding a
24dBi parabolic in the other direction will give you -37dBm...which is way
too much signal and will overpower many radios (including the orinoco).

I think you got your testing mixed up.  ;)

Anyway, I would not suggest using 2 watts to shoot 2.4km.  That is way too
much power, and it will do more harm than good in forms of multipath, radio
overload, band splatter, etc.
