I am a HAM and on King County Search and Rescue (4x4 group). I'm interested in doing some packet radio stuff from my car as well (APRS and the like). However, finding the equipment and software is still an issue, as we dont have that sort of stuff available. Given, it seems most SAR folks are HAMs so you'd stand a better chance finding people with gear for sale, but the county isnt handing it out.
