After you factor in all the overhead from the wireless stuff...even if it gets throttled by 90% and he only gets a little over 1 mbit/s...this is still far above his internet speed. I am having a hard time understand why he is assuming it is his wireless. I have seen wireless setups where clients randomly disconnect every few minutes (and then proceed to reconnect) and it totally trashes any downloads they had running. So if we take a 256K DSL line, factor in 20% overhead for ATM and/or other network stuff, whack off 20% for WEP, we've reduced our throughput to about 150KBps. 802.11b is half-duplex as well, if I recall.
