Finding gzip image in latest beta firmware (2.38.6) for Wrv54g

Hello,

 

I came across an excellent article about hacking the Wrv54g to get a telnet
prompt.

I assume the byte offset for the gzip image in the firmware is not at the
same location as listed in the command below.

 

# dd if=wrv54g_2.03_fw.rmt of=rd.img.gz bs=1c skip=788041c 
# gunzip rd.img.gz 

 

My question is how I locate the new gzip image byte offset for new the new
firmware?  

 

What am I searching for to get the byte offset in a hex editor?

 

I came across a couple of utilities for extracting/finding the gzip image
but they didn’t work (find-zlib and splitgzip).

 

Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated
as I would very much like to start tweaking my routers config directly (a
bit buggy on certain aspects).
