I think you make an excellent point Mike.

Casey,   a simple 'HackNight is moving to Wednesday' would have been 
sufficient.

HackNight is an excellent weekly meeting when there are projects on the 
table, but it does seem to turn into a social hour when there are 
not.    We do currently have a few projects we are working on.

1. The tower project.
   I haven't been giving a lot of public detail on this one as we're >< 
close to having it all done.   Once I have a solid install date and 
everything has been vetted through the property management, etc.  I'll 
post on my blog and send a note to the mailing lists.  

2.  The wiki
  I'm not sure if you folks noticed, but we're -finally- running a new 
copy of Moin, with spam protection and all that.    We got off the 
upgrade-cycle years ago, so it was a pretty horrible process.  The wiki 
needs pruning and love.   I'm sure you all will dive right in.

3. The map
  Eric Butler has taken point on this one and we are very close to 
having a very nice looking, functional map system based on Google Maps 
API.    If you have an up and running (or proposed node), contact us and 
we'll put you on the list.    Authorized node additions are next on the 
list and i'd love to give you a timeframe on that one, but I cant.

4. The routing
 We've come to consensus that mesh routing protocols are needed to bring 
down the level of knowledge needed to connect.   We have agreed that 
OLSR is the best answer for our problems.   It is cross-platform, has a 
rich feature set (plus plugins), there are large rollouts, and it is 
under active development. 

5. Non Internet reliant services
 Part of all of this is just making the network interesting and 
generating 'local content and services'.     This is an ongoing thing 
obviously, but if you have thoughts or better yet,  actual content or 
services, we're always willing to talk about them and/or do them.  This 
does get hazy/social.

6. Event planning / coordination.
  I think we should have another Field Day. 


And of course, we talk about/ do other things too.    I think what Casey 
was trying to convey, is that this is not a "General Meeting".    But 
anyone is welcome to attend.
