ModifyHTML vs. strict.dtd

I like the ModifyHTML stuff, but I note that it causes strict.dtd
documents to become invalid.

there is no attribute "COLOR"
element "FONT" undefined
document type does not allow element "STYLE" here
NET-enabling start-tag requires SHORTTAG YES
character data is not allowed here
there is no attribute "ALIGN"

Perhaps more stylesheet gizmos could be used instead?
