Hi All,
I am new to zebra and also new to routers.
So , I am just experimenting with zebra.
What I have done is connected two desktop machines with Fedora Core 6
as the OS and connected both the machines to the same switch.
The machine description are as follows.
Machine 1
1. ip : 192.168.0.254
2. mask : 255.255.255.0
3. Gateway: 192.168.0.254
Machine 2
1. ip :172.16.16.1
2. mask :255.255.0.0
3. Gateway : 172.16.16.1
Now using zebra,I configured the interface on machine 1 as the same information as
provided below. I did the same with machine 2 with ip shown above
After I configured RIP on Machine 1 , and tried the following commands.
1. router rip
2. network 192.168.0.0/32
3. network eth0
4. redistribute connected
5. redistribute kernel
6. write memory
On Machine 2, I tried the same commands and advertised the network 172.16.0.0/16
But the problem is that after distributing the routes from both the machine, I am still
not able to ping each other .
If I do ,
show ip route on machine 2 , it is as follows
Network Next Hop Metric From Time
C(i) 172.16.0.0/16 0.0.0.0 1 self
It is not showing any RIP routes.
Please help me in configuring rip correctly.
