aggregatability only matters to the owners and operators of the core.
provider independence only matters to the owners and operators of the edge.
this is classic us-vs-them economics.  and this thread is a classic lead-in
to the "EID vs. RID" re-debate.  is that online anywhere, so that we can
point newcomers to it, rather than re-debating it every few months forever?
