I've been having a conversation with Huck Gutman, a City Market board member, who coincidentally was featured in the last issue of the zine (Soldiers for Hire). I would say that Prof. Gutman is sympathetic to the cause, but he is not involved in the negotiation process. However, he seems happy to represent member-owner concerns to the management. I recomend emailing him anything you write. I'd rather not post our conversation, but I'd be happy to send it to interested parties. > Will you send a letter to the Free Press (I will later, if anyone wants to base > a letter on my own, fine with me.) or to Seven Days? Seven Days has a nominal policy of only accepting letters in response to their articles. That said I've seen all sorts of off the wall letters that have nothing to do with what 7D has printed. I also recommend sending a letter to Bernie Sanders. An open letter from him on this issue would be great. If you are not currently a member, I strongly urge you to become one. It requires a $200 deposit (not a fee), but you only need to provide $25 for the first year. Once a member-owner you can vote in the board elections. The board has the power to fire the GM, who has been at the heart of many of these problems.
