Come see and hear the North American roadshow for the new release from City Lights Books of "Globalize Liberation: How to Uproot the System and Build a Better World," edited by David Solnit Featuring David Solnit and Carey Lampecht with puppets, music, interactive popular education, and updates on the Republican National Convention mobilization. David Solnit was an organizer for the successful shutdowns of the WTO in Seattle in 1999 as well as San Francisco's financial district in 2003 the day after the invasion of Iraq, and is a cofounder of Art and Revolution. Carey Lampecht is a San Francisco music composer, artist, and organizer who is a classically trained violinist, currently performing with the Punk Rock Orchestra. The new book "Globalize Liberation" gives voice and a how-to guide to the "new radicalism," a term used to describe the diverse movement of movements that is challenging empire, corporate capitalism, and Bush worldwide. The new radicalism, inspiring millions to flood the streets in resistance and to take action in their own communities, is new both in how popular and widespread it has become, and in its original methods of organizing for change. "Globalize Liberation" weaves together the experiences and insights of community organizers, direct action movements, and global justice struggles from North America, Europe, and Latin America. It offers clear analyses of the root problems, new strategies and tools for radical change, and examples of effective organizing campaigns and popular rebellions from Argentina to the agricultural fields of Florida, and from anti-prison organizing in California's Central Valley to the radical popular movement in Italy. Visually rich, with over 180 powerful photos and illustrations, "Globalize Liberation" uses an innovative travel-guide-style tab navigation and cutting-edge design.
