I'm gonna be out of town, otherwise I'd be all over it. I do have one of =
those mini-recorder things (like the ones in the movies where important p=
eople record their thoughts on), but you'd need a pretty nice mic setup o=
r be sitting right next to a speaker to get it with decent quality. My nu=
mber is 860-1413 if anyone in town is gonna need it, just gimme a call to=
night as we're leaving at the ass-crack of dawn tomorrow.

Arggh...Well, anyway...Ralph was great, as I said before. Contrary to the=
 article, he was a very engaging speaker, refraining from the simplificat=
ions and rhetoric that are the corporatist's stock and trade. He spoke ab=
out the decline of the will of the government to stand up to insurance an=
d medical companies by really pushing for socialized medicine. He raised =
the point that that old socialist Dick Nixon's medical plan was actually =
a whole lot more progressive than John Kerry's current one, which I thoug=
ht was interesting. He spoke about the Democratic Party's willingness to =
subvert the democratic process by tying up an economically disadvantaged =
campaign in the courts in what the Dems have acknowledged are nothing mor=
e than diversionary tactics. One thing that bothers me that he DIDN'T say=
 was that the Dems are sure litigious now that a "spoiler is threatening =
to steal 'their' votes"...Where was that willingness to use the legal sys=
tem when the Bush Junta stole the whole f
 ucking election? Anyway...

He spoke about the Dems and Republicans having their three disparate issu=
es (gun control, abortion, and something else - I know, I'm a moron, but =
I just got up), but being on the same side of many others that affect us =
much more deeply, e.g. free trade, Israel-Palestine, American globalism, =
THE IRAQ WAR, blah blah blah...you guys know the list. He talked a lot ab=
out the "least-worst" syndrome, where we as a society have been condition=
ed to accept the least-worst candidate rather than the best, and that Ame=
rica's youth should (and to a greater extent than our older counterparts,=
 DO) expect more.=20

There were some other good speakers, as well. One guy whose name I don't =
remember, but Aaron does, I'm sure, was a medical preofessional who had g=
iven a speech earlier that day regarding the state of Canada's social hea=
lth system vs. America's, and he gave a quick summation opening the night=
, which was great. Basically, Canada's a lot better off and more efficien=
t than the American system, and much of the argumentation put forth again=
st socialized medicine doesn't bear out under the facts and stats. Anthon=
y Pollina also spoke, really well, might I add. Dude's got polish. Anyway=
, he had a more local, state-size focus, and spoke about the attempt of l=
ocal farmers to form their own co-op to stand up to the Dallas, TX-based =
co-op that currently soaks up most of Vermont's dairy. Basically, the leg=
islature approved it, but Jim Douglas vetoed it, but they're coming back =
again with the same idea, and they need our support. Charlotte, do you kn=
ow anything about this? You seem to be ou
 r resident Agro-commie...If anyone does, please give me a heads up as to=
 anything I might be able to do to help out.=20

All in all, it was a really good night. I broke out before the Q&A period=
, as I generally despise the moronic questions people ask (yeah, I know, =
I'm an asshole), so I didn't see it all, though. Aaron and David stuck ar=
ound longer than me. Aaron also came in later than me, and evidently he s=
aw some Kerry/Edwards folks outside. Thanks for coming, dickheads, we did=
n't protest your candidate when he came to...oh yeah, KERRY COULD GIVE A =
SHIT ABOUT VERMONT, AND NEVER CAME, AND NEVER WILL. We couldn't even get =
a VP candidate's wife, the 2 of diamonds in the campaign PR deck.=20
