Hello, Members...

Here is a small slice of the Gunsite 250 (Defensive Pistol) class I
recently attended and wrote about in the last LASC Newsbulletin. Howard
Hall and the other instructors put us through the Dozier Drill
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Technique_of_the_Pistol> .

This is a fairly common drill for firearm training. I was shooting a Sig
Sauer P226 using 115gr 9mm FMJ rounds. As you can see, the last plate
was not set properly to fall after being impacted with that particular
round. Even though it was hit, it didn't fall. I was a little taken
aback that it didn't fall, missed the next two rounds, then kept
shooting until the "threat was eliminated." Lesson learned -- when
encountering a threat, keep shooting until it is no longer a threat!

This drill combines several skills, including movement, target
acquisition, trigger control/reset, engaging multiple targets, and
shooting until the "threat is eliminated." Fun, but also good for skill
sharpening.

Thanks for watching!
