FWIW, I am a native speaker of (U.S.) English. I support the FSFE in both of these senses, and I am also a "supporter" of the FSFE in a third sense, in addition to donating regularly and volunteering. As a long-retired computer programmer (and an even longer-retired lawyer), I support the aims of the FSFE. Here is the suggestion, for those who may not have kept it. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Johannes N=C3=A4der <[email protected]> Date: Thu, Mar 26, 2026 at 9:08=E2=80=AFAM Subject: [Translators] [DE] Please use "Supporter" instead of "Unterst=C3=BCtzer" in German translations from now To: <[email protected]> Hi all, after a decision on a coherent German translation of the English word "supporter", all static pages on fsfe.org have now been updated. From now, please use: EN | DE supporter | Supporter supporter of the FSFE | FSFE-Supporter supporter contribution | Supporter-Beitrag to support (verb) | unterst=C3=BCtzen (no change here) support (noun) | Unterst=C3=BCtzung (no change here) The idea is to have a fix word for everyone who donates to the FSFE on a recurring basis - be it monthly or yearly, clearly distinguishing them from people who do one-time donations and from volunteers and people who contribute to our work in other ways.
