I have had many queries from members about the tasks that have to be
done in OFOQ ; I 'll list the tasks of OFOQ development here and please
let me know which part you are interested to participate in :

===================
**Memory controller :

descriptions : The task is mainly a hardware one such that the objective
is to integrate the Memory controller IP Core with The SRAM and the
FLASH on the ALtera SOPC board. Bi-directional (read and write to the
memory ) . This is from the memory side .

The other interface to be integrated to the controller will be the
Wish-Bone Bus standard. The objective is to connect the memory
controller core to the WIsh-Bone.
For testing purposes , there is a need to test the data and control flow
among the four elements of this set which are { memory units [SRAM,
FlASH, Memory controller core, Wish-Bone Bus , OPenRISC CPU }

Members who are working now on this are ; SOban and Mohamed Salem.
More members are welcomed ..

====================

***LCD :

The LCD of Hitachi on the Altera SOPC board had been tested through
using a Linux driver that runs on a linux PC attached to the Board .
Jamil has done it completely and the test documentation are on line (
you can download to see the test details )
The task is now about :
Interfacing the LCD unit on the board ( check the Hitachi number please
) to an LCD controller IP core.
Then, the other side would be connecting the core to the Wish-Bone and
the Open-Risc following the same scheme of the memory listed above.
The member(s) who will find this of interest could have a reference look
and study the core at
http://www.opencores.org/projects/vga_lcd/
and re-use or re-build our own LCD controller.

=============
***Key Board :

We need to use a real KB for the OFOQ proto-type instead of using
KB-Emulators. The objective is to build a stand-alone prototype of a
real OFOQ PDA.
The target of the task is to build a kB controller core that would
interface with the KB device , The WB SOC bus and the OpenRISC CPU.
The member(s) who will find this of interest could have a reference look
and study the core at http://www.opencores.org/projects/keypad_scanner/
This is just examples that could be re-used or support the design of a
new customized core for our case.
==============
What I have listed above could be under the frame of the OFOQ SOC HW
here follows the SW interesting part: Members who are interested in
embedded software development would find the coming list as of utmost
interest and concern for them :
==============================

****PORTING UCLINUX operating system to the OPENRISC CPU :

==============
The task title is inherent descriptive. The target is to port the linux
kernel on the openrisc CPU implemented. This has been done before the
the ORISC so it needs to be studied then applied. This is of great
interest to run Linux on the openrisc.
=====================
***Devices' DRIVERS :

**LCD Driver :
The driver will run on the OR and interface with Linux kernel. The
driver will send control signals and data to the hw device "LCD
controller":

**KEYBOARD Driver :
The driver will run on the OR and interface with Linux kernel. The
driver will send control signals and data to the hw device "KeyBOard
controller"
================
**SOFTWARE Applications :

The following program will be used as the software that interact with
OFOQ user :
Simple calculator
Small Phone Book
To DO list
Alarm, clock.
The target of these application programs is JUST to prove functionality.
Then the door would be open for more complex application that addresses
the Linux platform.
=======================
I'd request kindly every member in this list to comment on the tasks
listed above. I need to get you members more positive and active. have
been receiving several queries about the task available and their
description. Now, I think it is more clear for every one. I need now all
of you to take some time to digest the simple descriptions above. It
might be not written in details but I do know it projects what you
actually need to get knowing with the tasks list. Then, I'd be so
pleased to receive your mails that shows in which part you are
interested to share. Remember, if u do have a tiny slice of time that
you could share with in OFOQ it would be of great account to US all.
Every one role is of great interest and help for the OFOQ development.
Thanks for your time and interest ....

Looking forward to receiving your "Task of interest" replies..

NOte : If I forget to list any task, please let me know about it ...

Best Regards,

	Mohamed A.Salem
