Good news for once, or at least I think so. With a chance to take a deep breath or two, I found a (perhaps kludgy) way to move whole folders between one of Pine's folder collections and another. I simply opened one, which I had inadvertently let get added to a collection where it didn't belong; selected all the messages; told it Apply, then Save; and hit ^N till I got to the collection where it belonged. Then I typed the name of the folder -- the same name, since the one I was moving had only things that belonged in a folder of that name that was already there in the right collection. Then I applied Delete and Expunge (needlessly, but it made the next step go faster). Hit L to get back to the folder in the list it had gotten into in error; hit Delete; and since Pine had already appended the misplaced messages to the right folder -- it appends automatically -- I was done. I've done it to three now, and it has worked all three times. It'd've been more satisfactory to get all the duplicates moved in one go, but it does work piecemeal this way. Unless, as sometimes happens, I've goofed in some way I don't imagine ... -- Beartooth Staffwright, Wordcrafty Squirreler FC5; Pine 4.64, Pan 0.14.2.91; Privoxy 3.0.3; CXO 5.0.1 Dillo 0.8.5, Opera 8.54, Firefox 1.5, Galeon 2.0.1 Remember I have little idea what I am talking about.
