You definitely *do* want to keep your Adelphia role for
situations when you need to use that address in your From
header. But you need to understand this:
Your Adelphia role will work only when Adelphia is your IAP (*)
Here's what I recommend you do with that role.
1] Run 'pine' on titan.
2] Type 'MSRR' (Main > Setup > Rules > Roles).
3] Use your arrow keys to select your Adelphia role.
4] Type 'C' (Change).
5] Change the Nickname (the first line) so the value is
something like this:
beartooth (AT) adelphia.net [do not use on pine on Lserv]
Make sure that the role includes both your Adelphia address
(replace ' (AT) ' with '@') and the text '[do not use on pine on
titan]'. This text will remind you that this role does not work
everywhere. You can, of course, specify whatever reminder text
you want.
6] Move down the screen to this setting:
Use SMTP Server =
Please copy & paste this SMTP Server line into a reply to this
message.
7] Save your changes.
After I learn what is specified as the SMTP Server for that
role, I will continue walking you through setting up and testing
this role.
(*) IAP means Internet Access Provider and is the provider of
your "pipe" to the Internet. When you are running pine on titan,
the IAP for *that* pine is Lserv. Any interaction between that
pine and the Internet is done through the Lserv "pipe." When you
are running pine on one of your local computers, your IAP is
Adelphia. You will only be able to use your Adelphia role from
your local computers.
