Using Sieve at FastMail.FM to filter mailing lists (e.g. abiword)

There are two ways to filter mailing lists at FastMail.FM (and 
at many other IMAP service providers):

 * use subaddressing
 * use FM's server-side Sieve filters

My plan is to teach you how to use both of these methods. For 
the abiword list, I know you want to simply delete these 
messages, but for now let's use this list to learn about FM's 
server-side Sieve filters. To create a Sieve filter at FM, do 
the following:


1] Use 'pine' on titan to create a mailbox in your FM collection 
that you will use for the abiword list messages. Possible names 
for this mailbox are:

    l-abiword
    in-abiword
    in-l-abiword
    --abiword
    anything-you-like

Over the years I have used names like all of these for my 
mailing-list mailboxes. Here are some tips for choosing the name:

    * use all lower case letters

    * use a prefix like 'l-' or 'in-' or '--' so that your
    incoming mailing-list mailboxes are group together (in an
    ASCII sort)

    * do not use a period (.) or slash (/) in the name of the
    mailbox; it is best to avoid all non alphanumeric characters
    other than dash (-)


2] Use a web browser to log in to your FM account.

3] Select Options.

4] On the Options screen, select Define Rules.

5] In the "Mailing lists/File into folders" section of that 
page, create a rule that will file your incoming abiword 
messages into the folder that you created in Step 1. For now, 
I'm going to let you learn about creating a rule by doing this 
yourself. If you have an questions, please ask!

6] IMPORTANT: After you create the rule, click the Done button. 
If you do not click the Done button, you will lose the work you 
did on this screen.

7] Sit back and wait for an abiword list message and see if the 
rule works.
