Those who feed of the society by creating artificial monopolies might eat less, but everyone else would eat better. You mentioned intellectual property, Les. It's a legal idea. That's where it comes from. It was created by manmade law. It didn't come from nature. No other animal has it. Even man didn't have it until quite recently in our history. People could believe in common decency and respect for the work and abilities of others could but still come to the the conclusion that monopolies on ideas should be abolished. From my point of view, these ideas coexist far better than the current system. I believe that the fact that you are a beneficiary of the current system gives you a bias. Do you also believe that the recent extension of copyrights is going to generate more creativity for society because people who would not have otherwise created ideas will now do so because their heirs can benefit for an additional 20 years after their deaths than they would have before the extension was enacted?
