Licensing and "rights" are a tough topic, especially since most of the world 
uses Microsoft software.  People are aware how restrictive Microsoft's 
licensing is, but they seem to be willing to sacrifice their freedom in 
order to run Windows.  A few people may not realize what's at stake, but 
most people have done at least a modicum of research, or have had someone 
who knows about the issues mention them in passing.

Linux did seem to cause a big knee-jerk reaction among many Windows users 
and I'm sure there were a lot of converts based on licensing issues, but 
licensing issues are only part of the larger open source picture.
