when I was in the University (in the dark ages) there was no concept of
"owning" software...(Had time share on a UNIVAC 1108 if I recall
correctly)  so this idea of signing ones life away attend a public
university seems counter intuitive....My daughter went to a community
college and the REQUIRED as a freshman that the student take a course in
Windows??  she didn't want to rock the boat in her first semester but she
was a Mac user and hated it...if I returned to university as a grad
student I have wondered if I would be able to do so using open source
software????

wow, I thought all of those were spam, wonder if I got one too!  I'm
always getting warnings from the BSA about my illegal use of software,
which is funny since I run a 100% M$ free office, and what few pieces of
proprietary software I have is fully legal.
