Doesn't surprise me. One course I taught for a software company was on a
product/technology I knew very well. The course contained some
configuration advice I thought was incorrect, so I contacted the guy inside
the company who maintained that part of the code, and he confirmed that the
advice given in the course was completely wrong, and that my analysis was
right. And as I said, the test was based on the course, not the correct
information.

I had to teach the course and at that point say: Look, the course manual
says this, but in the real world, for goodness sake, don't do it that way!
Here's what's really going on. But for those of you who want to pass the
certification test, make sure you answer THIS way, even though you know it
to be wrong.

That kind of thing is surprisingly common, as I say. You could say I'm very
disillusioned over vendor certifications. In fact, see

The best way to approach a certification is when you can say "I can't think
of any reason why I shouldn't obtain this certification". If you have the
experience, and you have the theoretical underpinnings, so that the exam
will give you no trouble, then you're in the right place.
