I am not a provider, not am I a lawyer.

But if I were the former, I would have contract words written by the 
latter in my contracts, which words would instruct in some detail how 
abandoned property will be dealt-with.  I would expect that commercial 
and other law would be involved.

After the question comes up is way too late to think about the answer.
