Ah, thanks..  I did forget the wh to kwh conversion..  I should have used
$.0001 --  Doh..  

And agreed this does not take in to account the amp/hour to watt/hour power
factor..  So the actual numbers are a titch higher due to transmission and
impedence inefficiencies..  

So if we round off your numbers and use $1000 to power the room..  Add in
amortization for building, UPS  etc... Add in bandwidth costs and manpower
and insurance and top it off with a profit (nobody is going to do it for
free) then the $1k numbers per rack still aren't so bad..  I am not sure
about $1.8k..

watt hours != amps

If you get 80A @ 120V, your equation would be (ignoring power factor):

$.10 * 120V * 80A / 1000 * 24 hr * 30 day = $691

A good rule-of-thumb for cooling "overhead" is around 60%, so that would add
another $415 for a total of $1106.

I don't know where you are, but 10 cents per kWh seems kind of high for
commercial electric rates.
