We actually do have an established relationship with a credit card processor
for those who want to pay their telephone/CATV/internet bill online, as our
billing system vendor has built the hooks to make that all happen.  So
hopefully there is a hotspot product out there that can do the same thing.

Unless you already have a relationship with a credit card processor for
online sales you are going to find that it would be cheaper for you to give
the access away for free.  We had this idea once upon a time also, but the
fees and requirements for making it work with the cc folks made it untenable
for a small operation.  Now if you were talking about hundreds of hotspots
with tens of thousands of dollars per day in sales it might be feasible.  

 

I do not know of an AAA box that uses PayPal.

I'm looking for a "hotspot-in-a-box" solution that we can centrally host for
multiple remote sites (mostly parks and public areas).  

 

I would like to be able to say I could take the traffic L2 back to this box
so that it acts as the gateway, but if I had to L3 route all the traffic
through it, I would be OK with that.  It would need to be able to work
against our RADIUS server so that we could authenticate our own customers,
but for those that are not our customers, we would like the option to bill
them using credit card, Paypal, and the like.  I would prefer to buy as
opposed to outsource the payment/portal side, but I'm open to that if there
aren't any other good options.

 

Again, I'm looking for comments from those who have operational experience,
as my google-fu is as good anyone's. =)
