Charging for traffic across network versus to Internet

Hello!

You may have recently see an email of mine with the subject "Internet 
usage for customers spanning data centers".  It was medium-lived, and 
didn't erupt in a flame war, which is good, but responses have now led me 
to another question...

My situation here is of a customer that's got database replication going 
across our network between two of our data centers separated by about 60 
miles.  However, there are a number of applications for which this would 
come up...

1.  How many of you folks charge for traffic across your network that 
doesn't go out onto the Internet?  The replication example above is my 
most immediate good example.

2.  If you *DO* charge, *HOW* do you charge?  95th percentile?  Total data 
transferred?  And, more importantly, how do these prices compare with your 
Internet traffic prices?

Thanks much... I'm trying to get an idea of what's most commonly done and 
what works...
