Maybe I missed something, but who did I elect to represent my
interests as a consumer? My interests as a consumer are that no one
should ever contact me with direct marketing unless they have my
prior permission ("we are just conducting a survey" type of thing,
for example)("we will be in your area next week and would like to .."
as another example)("you have already won a prize..." etc).

Again, I'm somewhat lost. How did I express my "best interests"
and/or ask the DMASA to act on my behalf? Maybe they act from noble
motives, but they cannot be so sure of serving my best interests if
they don't know what they are.

Yes indeed, I would like to trust so too. Hey, how about running an
online survey to assess what the SA public feel what is best for
them?

Hmm, does this not confirm that the interests of business are being
served? Why no mention of the implications for and feelings of those
who feel that they have a right to privacy and that direct marketers
have no right to intrude on their space unless invited?
