Re: opt-out registry comments

On by business mail (@thegreentree.za.net):

In the last 30 month (2 Jul - 2 Aug 2011) I have received 470 emails.
Since I use the web interface, I'm not able to tell you the combined
size of the emails though.

In that same period I received 146 messages in my spam folder of which
I also don't know the combined size.

How much google actually blocks I don't know, but I suspect nothing,
except those message that contain mailware or virusses.

Google does occasionally have some false positive spam messages, but
they stop as soon as I add that address to my addressbook.  The other
way round, I do receive a handful of spam message in my inbox in a
month at most.

So, I can confidently say that of the 146+470 = 616 messages I have
received, 23,7% are spam, afaik.

I have a total of 74878 message in this mailbox, but can't determine
the size since google doesn't show it anymore since the last (or some
previous upgrade)

For my personal mail (@gmail.com), which includes most of my list
memberships and groups, as well as social networks:

1018 messages, 399 spam messages = 1497 of which

A total of 65550 messages in this mailbox consume 2988 MB of data.
That's an average of 46.67KB per message.

If I had downloaded all the spam then, it would have been 18.18MB,
which costs (@R29 /GB) rather little.

Some of this is guesswork, since I don't know how much spam I'm not
receiving and I also don't know if the volume of spam varies
significantly from time to time.
